Why does slot 2 on the BMEXBP1200 and BMEXBP1002 backplanes NOT support Ethernet modules?

Question
Why is slot 2 on the BMEXBP1200 backplane not a full-featured slot and unable to host Ethernet communication modules

Answer:

  1. Issue
Customers report that when using the BMEXBP1200 12-slot backplane in Control Expert, slot 2 cannot accept Ethernet communication modules (e.g., NOR, NOC...). This often leads to confusion during rack configuration.

  2. Resolution
This is not a defect but a design limitation of the BMEXBP1200 backplane.
    • Slot 2 is not Ethernet-capable; it only supports X Bus for certain module types.
    • Ethernet communication modules must be installed in slots that support Ethernet and X Bus (slots other than slot 2).
