Issue:
How much current does the motor operator for a Powerpact H or J circuit breaker draw at terminals A2 and A4?
Product line:
Powerpact H and J
Resolution:
For AC voltage, the current to operate (500 VA divided by voltage) is the same on A4, A2, B2, and B4. Only the duration is different. A4 and A2 are momentary; B2 and B4 are continuous while the motor is running (600 ms maximum).
For DC voltage, the motor is controlled with a PCB. In this case, power is supplied through B4 and A4; A2 and B2 are low level (less than 50 mA).
Power source and components for a motor operator must be designed for 500 VA, taking into account the inrush current is 2x operating current for 10 ms.
