Issue:
How to use Powerlink G3 as a modbus gateway.
One can setup a Powerlink NF2000G3 or NF3000G3 on an ethernet network for Modbus over TCP/IP communications. One can then wire up to 8 other devices by RS-485 communications from the 2-wire RS-485 terminals in the Powerlink G3. Commands for the modbus devices can be sent over TCP/IP via the Powerlink G3 Controller.
Product Line:
Powerlink Lighting Control
NF2000G3, NF3000G3, NF3000G3C
Environment:
Powerlink G3 systems
Cause:
This feature allows devices to be accessed via modbus TCP/IP when then otherwise would require a direct modbus communication line back to the BAS network.
Resolution:
First setup the Powerlink G3 Controller for Modbus TCP/IP communications. Set the modbus registers explained in the attached instruction bulletin to put the controller into Modbus Passthrough Mode.
Note that if the controller is an NF3000G3C with a C-bus network, then Modbus Passthrough Mode is not available.
