Issue:
How is the standard amps on panelboard bussing rated, per square inch , temperature?
Product Line:
Circuit breaker panelboards sold and supported in the USA.
Environment:
Application
Cause:
Specification
Resolution:
Manufacturers have a choice of testing their panels by amps per sq. inch or heat rise.
Schneider chooses to test by the heat rise method as we feel it is a better test of how connections and joints will react based on actual temperatures rather than the sq. in. calculation method.
We don't have an amps per sq. in. rating for our panels. If per square in rating is needed, it would require the selection to High Density Buss option of 750 amps per sq. in. for Aluminum, or 1000 amps per sq. in. for Copper in product selectors.
