Resolution:
The standard Powerpact H, J and L electronic trip circuit breakers do not have field interchangeable trip units. These breaker have the letter "U" appearing just in front of the trip unit indicator in the catalog number.
These breakers can be ordered that do allow the trip unit to be changed in the field. These breakers have the letters "TU" appearing just in front of the trip unit indicator in the catalog number.

LDL36600U33X - trip unit is not field interchangeable
LDL36600TU33X - trip unit is field interchangeable
