Issue:
When running the Power Software Diagnostics Tool with an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
Product Line:
Power Monitoring Expert 7.x, 8.x
Struxureware Power Monitoring 7.0.x
Environment:
Power Software Diagnostics Tool
Cause:
There is more than one key underneath the ION Enterprise key in the Windows registry.
Resolution:
*Warning: This article contains information about editing the registry. Improper changes to the registry can permanently damage the operating system. Always backup the registry before making any changes.*
To fix this problem, rename all of the other registry keys underneath ION Enterprise so that the newest key becomes the first one in the list. These registry keys are found at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Schneider Electric\ION Enterprise.
For example, if the system has SPM installed, rename the 7.0 key to x7.0, the 7.0.1 key will now come before it in the list of keys underneath ION Enterprise.
The Diagnostics Tool should start working again once it can find the 7.0.1 key at the top of the list.
