The purpose of the top and bottom section is to provide a backup ready section and a non-backup ready section that can easily be interchangeable from partial home and whole home backup.
In addition, the submain disconnect allows for increased solar backfeed of 120 A per section, with a total of 240 A for the entire panel without having to do a line side splice or panel upgrade.
