How to configure an Analog Output (AO) to send out the Power Factor (PF), Active Power (kW), Voltage (V), and Current (A) from an ION7650 using ION Setup?
Issue
A customer may require using Analog Output (AO) to monitor the Power Factor.

Product Line
ION7650 series meter
ION Setup Software

Environment
Installation Setup and accessories

Cause
It wasn’t possible to configure meter analog output to send out the PF, kW, V or A signal using the from display.

Resolution
The meter front display of the ION7650 does not have the capability to configure an Analog Output to send out the Power Factor (PF), Active Power (kW), Voltage (V), and Current (A) signal from an ION7650 meter.
This can be done using ION Setup software then connect the meter directly to your laptop or PC. See the following link to setup a static IP address and subnet mask to the meter. After downloading the latest version of ION Setup and stablishing the communication between the computer and the meter then add the meter in the ION Setup, then access the ION Setup advanced configuration to start the setting. The procedure will concern on creating an Arithmetic Module and link it to an Analog Output Module as the following:
  1. From ION Setup, 1) Create a new Arithmetic Module throughout the ION Setup Advanced Mode, Inputs -> Source 1: PF Sign Tot, then Send -> Setup Registers -> ARTH (Module created) Formula 1: arccos(S1/100), Then Send -> Output registers: Shift "ARTH Module created" to see the result.
  2. Then, Analog Output Modules: Select "Analog Output 1" -> Inputs: Source (ART Module created) -> Setup Registers: AO1 Zero Scale = 0, AO1 Full Scale = 3. 141593.
Therefore, your: Source is = ART Module Result's created and your Range is = 0 to 3.141593.
