Issue
When downloading to an HMI on a remote network over the Internet from EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert, after the generation of files phase is completed, the dialog message appears:
Title: "Download Failed"
Message: "Fail to Launch"

Product
EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert up to v3.5
Cause
EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert currently does not support remote download via NAT over the Internet with static Port Forwarding. The download protocol used with the software is quite unique from what we have seen in the past with our other software. Within each packet that EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert sends, there is special encrypted data containing information such as the Target IP of the HMI and other key trusted data. This is a means for the HMI to ensure the packets are coming from a secure sender. This is a cybersecurity feature that was implemented to protect the HMI from Man-in-the-middle attacks. For this reason, the normal usage of port forwarding rules is not possible.
Resolution
As of now, the only way to remotely download via NAT over the Internet is to make use of EcoStruxure Secure Connect. This is Schneider Electric's "VPN" offer to allow for easy connectivity to our HMI and PLC products over the internet.
A feature for remote download via NAT using regular port forwarding rules in v4.0 currently being developed for future release.
