What Are Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 EV Charging?

EV charging is usually described in three levels. Level 1 uses a standard 120 V household outlet and is the slowest option. Level 2 uses a 240 V circuit in home applications and is the most common choice for faster home charging. Schneider Charge is a Level 2 charger with up to 11.5 kW output, adding up to 44 miles of range per hour depending on the vehicle and conditions. DC fast charging, sometimes called Level 3, is typically found at public charging sites and is designed for much faster charging during travel.
