Goals and Symptoms

User is using Foreign Operation System (Italian) and trying to "Trim and Archive" the ION Enterprise 5.5 database using Database manager. User gets the following error message:

Error reads:

• Database Archive
  The database archive failed.
  Description: The task reported failure on execution.
  Error code: -2147220421

On clicking OK, the next error message is displayed:


Error reads:

• ION Database Manager
  The following error occured within the Database Archive task.
  Execution was canceled by user.

Causes and Fixes

CausesThe reason for the above error message when trimming and archiving the databse was due to the regional setting of the user. Regional settings should be as shown below, notice the "Localita"



Resolution
Change the Location to Canada or United states, as shown below (most English regions should work):



Run the Trim and Archive tool from Database Manager again. The job should complete without any error messages now.
