Resolution:
To boot into safe mode on a HMIG5U or HMIG5U2, you must first uninstall the Sagem Morpho Smart USB driver first from the control panel. Once you have done so, reboot the HMIG5U/HMIG5U2 and continuously press the F8 key on a USB Keyboard connected to the HMI.
