Question: What is the correct RBC for the SMT 1kVA and 1.5kVA RM standard and SmartConnect UPS Models?:

Product Line: SMT1000RM2U, SMT1000RMI2U, SMT1500RM2U, SMT1500RMI2U, SMT1000RM2UC, SMT1000RMI2UC, SMT1500RM2UC, SMT1500RMI2UC

Environment: UPS units with ID 1015

Cause: There is a minor change between the standard SMT1000RM2U, SMT1000RMI2U, SMT1500RM2U, SMT1500RMI2U UPS models and the SmartConnect SMT1000RM2UC, SMT1000RMI2UC, SMT1500RM2UC, SMT1500RMI2UC UPS models related to the battery bay and battery retention screw positions.

Resolution: The correct RBC model numbers are shown below and on the UPS product pages on www.apc.com.

Note: The RBCs are not interchangeable between the standard and SmartConnect UPS models and using the a different RBC will not allow properly securing the RBC with the battery retention screws.

Note: SmartConnect enabled SMT UPS models with firmware version lower than UPS 15.5 may display the incorrect RBC model number on the UPS LCD Display, or the SmartConnect user interface. This has been addressed in UPS firmware version 15.5. For more information on updating the firmware of your UPS, refer to Knowledge Base Article FA164737.
