Goals and Symptoms

The ION 7700 inherently supports Modbus TCP through the Xpress Cards Ethernet port. The meter will recognize Modbus TCP communications if you configure the Ethernet ports Protocol setup register to Modbus RTU.

Causes and Fixes

Configure the ION 7700 to communicate Modbus TCP:

• 1. On the ION 7700 MGT, select Setup, Quick Setup, and then Ethernet COM.
  2. Select ETH1 Protocol, and then enter the meter password when prompted.
  3. Change the protocol from ION to Modbus RTU.
