Issue:
Installing PowerChute Software using Simple Signaling and an Active Management Technology serial port causes an Immediate Shutdown of the Operating System (and restarting results in another shutdown).

Product Line:
PowerChute Serial Shutdown
PowerChute Business Edition version

Environment:
Active Management Technology (AMT) ports. These ports are often available on HP machines.

Cause:
The Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) ports are used for Out-of-Band Management.

Solution:
Reboot the OS in Windows Safe Mode and then uninstall PowerChute. Reinstall PowerChute using another COM port or a USB port.
