Assigning global permission for newly created user is not allowed in vSphere vCenter 6.0 U 1b and 6.0 U 2a.
Issue:
In vSphere vCenter 6.0 U1b and 6.0 Update 2a, assigning global permission for newly created user is not allowed. And creating the New VM kernel network adapter for vSAN traffic is not possible. Options will be greyed out.

Product Line:
PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) version 4.3 and future versions


Environment:
  • vCenter cluster having more than two nodes.
  • vSphere vCenter 6.0 U1b, u2a (vCenter Server is installed on a Windows Machine)

Symptoms:
The option ofassigning global permission for newly created user and creating the New VM kernel network adapter for vSAN traffic, will be greyed out.


Resolution:

Follow the Steps below:
  1. Connect to your windows vCenter Server
  2. Go to registry: Start -> Run -> regedit
  3. Navigate to the registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
  4. On the right side, right-click on "Path" and select "Modify"
  5. Search for the MIT\kerberos path (should be: c:\Program Files\MIT\Kerberos\bin)
  6. Copy the path (eg: c:\Program Files\MIT\Kerberos\bin)
  7. Navigate to the registry path: HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Environment
  8. On the right side, right-click on "Path" and select "Modify"
  9. Append the path copied before to the registry key's value data field
  10. eg: C:\Program Files\*******; c:\Program Files\MIT\Kerberos\bin
  11. Click OK
  12. Restart the Windows vCenter server
