Issue:
Grounding Electrostatic Shields
Product Line:
LV Transformers
Environment:
Applies to Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric
Resolution:
SquareD/Schneider Electric`s Ventilated Transformers with electrostatic shields have the shield lead terminated at the core clamp, which is bonded to the enclosure by the factory. When the installer properly bonds the enclosure of the Transformer to the nearest earth ground, as required by the NEC, the electrostatic shield is automatically properly bonded as well.
Square D/Schneider Electric`s Sealed Resin Encapsulated Transformers with electrostatic shields have the shield lead(s), (There may be more than one), unterminated by the factory. It is the responsibility of the installer to properly bond the shield lead to ground. This is typically done when the installer bonds the enclosure to the nearest earth ground as required by the NEC.
