Video: How to understand ''discrete input and coil'' in Ladder logic for Zelio smart relay?
Issue:
discrete input and coil in Ladder logic for Zelio smart relay explanation

Product Line:
Relays and Timers

Environment:
Zelio smart relay

Resolution:
In Ladder logic program for Zelio smart relay, the key elements are the input and output.
For the discrete input of Zelio smart relay, it can be programmed to be Normally Open (N.O. in short) or Normally Closed (N.C. in short) contact.
For the discrete output of the Ladder logic program, it was classified as ‘coil’ and ‘contact’. There are four types of the output coil---Active on (contactor), Active on (impulse relay), Latch activation (set) and Latch deactivation (reset).
Active on (contactor) coil, it will operate the same as a coil inside a contactor.
Active on (impulse relay), it will operate the same as a coil inside an impulse relay.
Latch activation (set), it will operate the same as a latching relay coil.
Latch deactivation (reset), It will operate the same as an unlatch relay coil.
Each output coil will require a coil contact as the logic execution actuator.

In ZelioSoft 2 programming interface, on the top of the interface, there are 5 contact columns and 1 coil column. For different logic block---contact or coil---corresponding type will needed to be placed in correct columns.

A simple program was built:
A N.O. contact ‘I1’ that is controlling the output Active on (contactor) coil.
A N.O. contact ‘I2’ that is controlling the output Latch activation (set) coil. A N.O. contact ‘IB’ that is controlling the output Latch deactivation (reset) coil.
A N.O. contact ‘IC’ that is controlling the output Active on (impulse relay) coil.
Output contact Q1 is controlled by corresponding coils.
A simulation was conducted to show how the program works.
