Does the ATV660 with Full Voltage Bypass have solid state overload protection when in the bypass?
Issue:
Does the Enclosed ATV660 when ordered with Bypass have Solid State Overload?
Resolution:
No. When an Enclosed ATV660 is ordered with the Full Voltage Bypass option, it does not use solid-state overload protection in the bypass circuit.
The bypass package uses two mechanically and electrically interlocked TeSys F contactors to switch the motor between Drive (AFC) mode and Bypass (BYP) mode. Because these are electromechanical contactors, the bypass system is not considered solid-state.
Instead, the enclosure includes a separate Class 20 overload relay that provides motor overload protection while operating in bypass mode.
Features Included with the Bypass Option
- Class 20 overload protection
- Overload Trip (yellow) pilot light
- Bypass (yellow) pilot light
- Bypass and isolation contactors with mechanical and electrical interlocking
- Contactor sequencing that provides true motor isolation
