It is sometimes desirerable to get data from a database that is not part of ION Data into ION Enterprise, so that the Arithmetic Module in the VIP can be used for calculations and reporting.
This is possible. Lets say, for example, the user wants to get data from a 3rd party database into VIP and then do some kind of arithmetic calculation on it.
The easiest way to do this is:- Move the data from SQL to Excel
- Use an Excel OPC Server and the ION OPC Client to bring it into the VIP
NOTE: The ION OPC Client is considered 'custom', and requires an Application Engineer to configure. Please contact your Sales Representative for more information.
