Ferro Smart Grid

Ferro Smart Grid (Smart Grid Development for Energy Management in the Railway Sector) introduced the concept of intelligent networks to the railway sector by developing an experimental prototype. Based on power storage and electromobility systems for efficient energy consumption, the first smart grid for railways allowed:
- Optimal management of electric network systems.
- Interoperability of different urban and inter-urban transport systems, integrated electrically through intelligent nodes.
- Optimization of power usage in response to passenger volume.

The Ferro Smart Grid ushered in a new paradigm for railway networks.
