Restoring Notre-Dame de Paris
Schneider Electric contributes to restoring Europe's most-visited monument with in-kind donations and the transfer of skills in energy management solutions.
On April 15, 2019, Notre-Dame Cathedral was damaged by a terrible fire. To contribute to its restoration, Schneider Electric is mobilizing through in-kind and skills donation. In addition to providing technical support, we are supplying the public institution Rebâtir Notre-Dame de Paris with much of the equipment needed to power the site, make it safe and provide energy management solutions.

One construction site, several missions
Electric Power Supply
Schneider Electric is providing much of the equipment needed to power the site and ensure its security:
- A transformer station.
- Downstream electrical cabinets and panels.
- Electrical cabinet and panel components.
Building Management System
To enable the cathedral’s operators to manage and optimize the monument’s energy consumption, Schneider Electric is providing all the Building Management System (BMS) tools:
- Sensors.
- Controllers.
- Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Communication buses and associated software.
Expertise
Due to the monument’s historical status, its size, the logistical, space and access constraints (stairs, basements, vaults, etc.), and the resulting complexity of the work, Schneider is applying all its expertise to this tailor-made project in the form of:
- Maintenance.
- Electrical distribution.
- Engineering work.
- Planning and programming of the installed systems.
- Training future technicians and operators of the installed solutions.
