Does replacing a VSD controlling a motor in an ATEX area require recertification?

Goals and Symptoms

There is a variable speed drive (VSD) controlling a motor in an ATEX certified area (explosive atmosphere).  The VSD is in a motor control center (MCC) located outside of the hazardous area. If the motor is changed, do the motor and VSD need to be resubmitted for a new ATEX certificate?

Facts and Changes

Altivar 58 (ATV58) controlling a motor in an ATEX area

Causes and Fixes

There is no relation between the inverter and the ATEX equipment and protective systems intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere (ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU replaces ATEX Directive 94/9/EC).
