"Error: Cannot parse the '<name of pack>' stream..." when attempting to install report pack

Issue
Trying to install the report pack using the ReportPackUtil.exe indicates that the fie format is incorrect or that the report pack is for a previous version of PME.

ERROR: Cannot parse the '<name of pack>' stream. The file format may be incorrect or the report pack was created for a previous version of SPME.

CMD Error

The following has been verified:

  • The file has been compressed using a standard utility (WinZip, 7Zip, Windows OS, etc.)
  • The files in the Zip file are not corrupted and can all be opened.
  • There are no errors in ANY of the RDL files
  • All files required are present in the report pack: images, RDL files, and ReportPack.XML
  • The ReportPack.xml file contains all the required elements for the report

Cause
The problem in this instance might be the letter casing of the files and/or elements in the ReportPack.xml file. Installation of report packs is case-sensitive.
For example, if you have a file called Billing.rdl but in the ReportPack.xml file BILLING.rdl is entered, this will cause a problem.

Resolution
The letter casing must match between the elements in the ReportPack.xml file and the actual file names. Confirm that the letter casing of the FileNames in the ReportPack.xml matches the casing of the RDL files in the report pack Zip file.
