Cause

The clock source couldn’t sync.

Resolution

A new setup register has been added to the clock module on the ION8600 v332. This register is called Use GPS Quality Flag and provides two configuration options: Use Flag and Ignore Flag.

In previous firmware versions, meters configured to synchronize with a GPS time source would only accept time synchronization when the GPS was locked to a satellite. If the GPS source became unlocked, the meter would stop accepting time sync signals until the lock was restored.

Go to ION Setup Advanced configuration > Clock Modules  > Setup register. See highlighted on figure 1 below.

To select one of the behaviors: Highlight CL1 Use GPS Quality Flag  > Edit   > Then select either one. See figure 2 below:

This new feature allows users to choose between two behaviors:

Use Flag: The meter will only accept time synchronization if the GPS source quality flag indicates a locked state.

Ignore Flag: The meter will accept time synchronization regardless of the GPS source quality flag state.
