Phase angle out of range error on CM4000 when PT ratio is a high value

Issue
This issue has been seen before on a CM4000 configured as follows:
A CM4000T configured as a SYS 40 -> 4 PT (V1/V2/V3/Vn) and 3 CT (I1/I2/I3). The PT ratio is configured as 6000:100. The CT ratio is 1500:1. It is reading its expected voltage, power, and current, except that the CM4000T cannot read the fundamental voltage, phase angles, or current phase angles. The diagnoses on the display gives the error message: "V1N phase angle out of range, V2N phase angle out of range, and V3N phase angle out of range."

Setup:
CM4000T
Firmware

  • Download system (DL): 12.200
  • Language Library (LL): 14.170
  • Operating system (OS):14.340

Cause
*Warning: The firmware utilities listed here can cause permanent damage to your product if applied incorrectly. Before downloading any firmware updates, verify the firmware you are downloading is appropriate for the specific model number of your product. If you have any doubts, contact Technical Support for guidance.

*Warning: Be sure all other software, is not connected to the meter.*

For medium and high voltage systems, the meter is unable to correctly calculate the phase angles so the monitor did not display the values.

Resolution
To correct this, please upgrade the meter to the latest released firmware.
The firmware can upgraded with DLF-3000 utility.

Reference FA237920 regarding the procedure of uploading firmware to CM4, its latest firmware, and the download for DLF-3000.

When you are uploading this firmware it is best to direct connect to the meter and make sure that no programs are communicating to the CM4000.
