How to disable 1 minute logging in the CM4000/CM3000 device driver for PME 7.2.x and PME 8.0
Issue:
The default logging configuration on CM4000 and CM3000 series meters enables one-minute logging in datalog 3. This one-minute logging can cause the ION_Data database to grow very fast.

Product Line:
Power Monitoring Expert 8.0
Power Monitoring Expert 7.2.x
CM4000 Series Meters
CM3000 Series Meters

Environment:
Data Logging

Cause:
In PME 7.2.x and PME 8.0, the one-minute logging for datalog 3 on CM4000 and CM3000 series meters are not ignored in the device driver files.

Resolution:

The recommended resolution includes modifying the logging configuration on the meters to either disable datalogs that are logging at a one-minute interval or modify the logging interval to an acceptable interval.

In some instances there may be a large number of meters with one-minute logging enabled and reconfiguring each meter is not an acceptable option. In this case, you can modify the device driver files for CM4000 and CM3000 series meters to ignore one-minute logging for a particular datalog.

To configure the CM4000 series meter device driver to ignore one-minute logging on datalog 3,  follow these steps:
  • Open the "CM4000.ion" file using a text editor. This file is located in the following directory    ...\Power Monitoring Expert\system\translators"
  • Perform a search for RE3 and edit the following line changing the "NumericVariable_Register" from 60 to 61, see the screenshot below,
<t:ION t:SA="RegisterObj" t:H="135266829" t:P="135266816" t:N="RE3 Upload On Event Period Threshold" t:CI="NumericVariable_Register" t:V="61"/>

  • This will cause the driver to ignore logging from datalog 3 that has a logging interval less than 61 seconds
  • Save the changes and restart the ION Site Service.
This process can be performed on the CM3000 driver file as well.
