Why modifying the CPU time can causes safety I/O loss
If you are placing safety I/O modules in an RIO drop, the current time needs to be configured for the PAC. Enable the NTP service for your M580 system and configure the safety CPU as an NTP server or an NTP client. Failure to do so will cause the inputs and outputs of safety I/O modules in RIO drops to enter the safe, or de-energized state.
During operation of the safety system, do not change the time setting in the NTP server or the CPU. Changing the time during operations can cause a loss of communication and a safety system shut-down.
