Why COP27 matters

Countries across the globe are facing two major energy-related challenges today. The first from geopolitical tensions exposing our over-dependency on fossil fuels, sending shockwaves through the global economy. The second is the increasingly visible impact of emissions-related climate change.

Faced with this situation, governments, businesses, and civil society are again convening for the UN’s annual Climate Change Conference. This year, attendees at the 27th Conference of the Parties or COP27 taking place from November 6-18 in Egypt must focus on collectively implementing measures to transition to a low carbon economy and coordinate action to strengthen our resilience against climate change and energy insecurity.

Schneider Electric's representatives at COP27 will demonstrate how corporations and businesses can mobilize their ecosystems and make a lasting positive impact for a fair transition and provide opportunities to those who need them most.

Our Sustainability Research Institute’s insights and recommendations highlight the under-exploited potential of electrification, digitization, energy efficiency, and circularity to deliver cleaner, more affordable, and more secure energy systems. Schneider Electric’s work as an impact company also includes initiatives to address energy poverty through training and entrepreneurial opportunities.
