Job Description

We are currently seeking a R&D Sr. Test Engineer to join our R&D team based in our Bangalore, India Hub location. 

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about testing and test automation, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality embedded products. They bring hands-on experience in developing and executing a range of test approaches within a whole-system environment, working closely with core development teams to validate product performance, increase test coverage, and build robust testing tools.

 

As part of an Agile team, you will contribute to the implementation of innovative test solutions for embedded intelligent devices. You will be a test champion, continuously improving testing processes, tools, and practices to ensure the delivery of world-class products.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create, execute, and maintain test plans to verify and validate new product designs.
  • Document and analyze test results to provide necessary feedback to the development team and ensure thorough unit and hardware tests are conducted.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain automation scripts, tools, and test cases using Python.
  • Specify and design test fixtures necessary to perform test automation to support R&D program and collaborate into specifying manufacturing test requirements for product industrialization.
  • Regularly perform manual, sanity, smoke, regression, and other tests. 
  • Champion process improvements to increase quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with other test leads / managers / architects & design teams, gather requirements, prioritize automation efforts & deliver business value.
  • Participate in agile planning events including Scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

 

Core Required Skills

 

  • Demonstrable programming skills and experience in test development using Python, including automation frameworks like PyTest and Robot Framework.
  • Understand system architecture to identify integration points and dependencies
  • Strong understanding of functional and system-level testing, test strategy, risk-based testing, and coverage analysis.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Basic understanding of security testing for embedded systems including firmware vulnerability scanning and secure boot validation.
  • Experience in documenting test plans, results, and traceability for compliance and quality assurance.
  • Expertise in embedded systems including RTOS and microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex, STM32).
  • Strong background in electric circuit fundamentals and ability to read/create schematic diagrams.
  • Ability to interface programmatically (using Python) with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power sources, multimeters, PLCs/DAQ systems.
  • Professional, proactive attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Nice to Have Skills

 

  • Working experience with Electrical / Electronic / similar products or tester lines a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of product development life cycle (Agile methodology, Integration testing etc)
  • Experience of bug reporting and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Exposure to environmental testing standards or compliance (e.g., temperature, humidity, EMC).
  • Interest or experience with environmental sensing mechanisms/processes, and ability to apply this knowledge when developing and executing test plans. Experience testing/characterizing environmental sensors a plus.
  • Experience testing mobile applications or companion apps for embedded devices.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols and platforms (e.g., Zigbee, BLE, MQTT, AWS IoT).

 

Qualifications

 

  • EE Engineer or CS with +7 years of relevant test experience
