Job Description

We are hiring a FPGA Design Engineer in our Power Systems and Services division, to join our team and work on the development of high-power modular power electronic converters. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of multilayer embedded software on FPGAs.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement FPGA-based control systems for medium voltage power electronics converters
  • Collaborate with other members of the engineering team to understand the system requirements and develop technical specifications
  • Develop and test FPGA firmware using VHDL or Verilog for both simulation and hardware implementation
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of the FPGA control system with the power electronics and other control systems
  • Develop and implement design guidelines, standards, and best practices to ensure high quality, robust, and scalable FPGA designs
  • Conduct detailed performance and reliability analysis of the FPGA firmware, including timing analysis, resource utilization, and functional verification
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of the firmware to ensure optimal performance and reliability and to complete the development cycle from early prototyping to final system verification
  • Troubleshoot and debug firmware-related issues as they arise during development and testing
  • Writing design documents such as requirements specs, design specs, and verification specs
  • Stay well informed of the latest technological advancements and industry trends in FPGA design, power electronics, and control systems

 

Your profile

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 7+ years’ of working experience in designing and developing firmware for FPGA devices
  • Strong understanding of FPGA design principles, including HDL design, verification,and synthesis
  • Proficiency in HDL languages such as Verilog and VHDL
  • Proven experience with FPGA development tools, such as Xilinx ISE, Vivado, Lattice Diamond, or Altera Quartus
  • Experience with using Modelsim for simulation of FPGA designs
  • Knowledge in ECAT communication
  • Experience with power electronics principles, including gate drivers, protection circuits,
    control, and communication interfaces
  • Experience with software programming languages, such as C/C++, Python, or
    MATLAB
  • Experience with software debugging tools and techniques
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, ability to work effectively in cross functional teams, communication skills, proactive, innovative thinker, prepared to offer alternative or non-standard solutions to a problem, attention to detail
